4th Grade Teacher, TDA
Ms. Martinez, who is in her second year teaching fourth grade at Warren Elementary School, started her educational career as a substitute teacher. She quickly fell in love with being in the classroom and wanted to continue the work she was doing with her own class. Now, the third generation Tucson Unified employee is part of this year’s Teacher Development Academy, a district program to help certified staff grow in their field.
So far, Ms. Martinez said it has helped her better manage her classroom, as well as better utilize the tools and workbooks they’ve been given.
Curriculum Service Provider
Mrs. Elling celebrates her 28th anniversary of not just working in Tucson Unified this year, but of working at Warren Elementary School. Part of what initially captivated her to work at Warren, and has confirmed her decision to stay at the same school, is the true sense of the place being a friendly community school, as well as a great staff.
Now, Elling works as the school’s curriculum service provider. She loves being able to help teachers and work alongside them to better support their students.
OMA Teacher
Mr. Floyd has spent the last seven years at Warren Elementary as the music teacher through Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA). So far, he said, being part of OMA has been an eye-opening experience. It has helped him better understand how the arts, including visual arts, music, dance, theater, and more intertwine with core subjects.
He enjoys hosting classes that have the freedom to be more creative and magical, and in turn believes it helps students better learn their other lessons.
